COVID-19 update – 8 April 2022

This update is applicable from Saturday 9 April 2022.

The Government’s guidance on COVID-19 changed from Thursday 24th February 2022 and then again from 1 April 2022.

This update reflects those changes. They form part of the contract of employment between us and you.

Testing

We want to keep our home safe. That’s why we ask you to have a weekly rapid-result coronavirus (COVID-19) testing (known as lateral flow tests) to make sure you are not unknowingly carrying COVID-19

Lateral Flow Tests are still available to order through the Government’s website for personal assistants. To order a pack, visit the GOV.UK website.

What does this mean?

Due to the health needs of our family, we expect all staff to complete a weekly lateral flow test.

Self isolation

From Thursday 24th February 2022 all remaining COVID-19 restrictions in England have been removed.

From Thursday 24th February 2022 the legal requirement to self-isolate in England for people who test positive has ended. The legal requirement has been replaced with guidance to stay at home for at least 5 days until you have received 2 negative lateral flow test results on consecutive days.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 and have not had 2 negative lateral flow test results, we request that you stay away from work.

Once you have had 2 negative lateral flow test results, you may return to work.

What does this mean?

Due to the health needs of our family, we expect all staff who test positive to stay away from work for at least 5 days until they have received 2 negative lateral flow test results on consecutive days.

If we have a positive case in the home, we will not have any PA’s working in our home for at least 5 days. We will ensure that the individual will have 2 negative lateral flow test results on consecutive days before allowing PA’s to come in.

What does this mean?

To keep you safe, we will not have any PA’s working whilst we have a positive case in our home.

Payments

If you test positive

You will not be paid for those shifts where you have tested positive for COVID-19 and you need to stay away from our home.

However, if you are feeling well enough to work, we could agree for you to undertake some work remotely, such as creating activities for the boys. This must be agreed by both us and you prior to the planned shift.

If we test positive

If we have a positive case in the home, we will pay you for any shifts that you are due to work during the 5 days until we have received 2 negative lateral flow tests.

We could agree for you to undertake some work remotely, such as creating activities for the boys, during those shifts.
